Daydreaming
Daydreaming.
That’s how it all started. A little over a year ago, Tom and I began having discussions around taking a long trip north to Alaska. Individually, we’d both been dreaming of a trip like this for years and, as many couples do, we got to talking over early morning coffees and late nights lying side by side in bed about how and when we might make this dream come true.
As I write this, we’re three months into preparation and planning.
Upgrading our truck. Designing our camper. Planning our route. Thoughts of life on the road are taking up every available space in our minds. It's all-consuming, exciting, and a little overwhelming.
I’ve been thinking about ways to document this upcoming chapter. I’ve always enjoyed writing. To me, journaling can be both personally fulfilling, but also a way to share openly and intimately, without the pressure of adding images or videos. We’re bombarded with visual noise and stimulation every day. In a world saturated with Instagram feeds, I find peace in the written word – a space for reflection, nuance, and deeper connection. Call me old fashioned, but writing feels like a breath of fresh air.
As James Clear says… ‘the best time to start is now.’ And so, I am starting my first blog. And today, I’d like to celebrate my first entry.
Here’s to the year ahead as we continue to prepare, and to the anticipation of the adventure that will follow.
